Firstly, jack up the car halfway and loosen the lug nuts. 800x600 |
Then jack the car all the way up until the tyres lift off the ground. Fit in the jack stands and remove the lug nuts and rims. 800x600 |
Turn the brake disc-caliper assembly outwards by either using some force on it or by turning the steering wheel. 800x600 |
Remove the lower mounting bolt of the caliper with a good-quality ring spaner. You might need a hammer to loosen the bolt by hitting the wrench. Tilt the caliper upwards and slide inwards to remove the caliper. 800x600 |
Remove the brake pads and the guide clips from the caliper. Put back the caliper in place and wash with degreaser. Some brushing would be helpful here. 800x600 |
Dry the brake assembly under the sun or by an air gun for faster drying. 800x600 |
While waiting for the caliper to completely dry, clean the brake pads and "sandwidch" plates with a copper brush and sand paper. Then spray them black. Let them dry under the sun. 800x600 |
Wrap the brake disc and other parts that do not want to be painted with newspaper and start spraying. Spray about 3-4 thin layers. 800x600 |
Fit back the guide clips back in place as well as the brake pads. 800x600 |
If you are having difficulties in fitting brake the caliper back in place together with the pads, the piston need to be pushed back a little. Use a G-clamp with the brake pads as shown in the picture. 800x600 |
Caliper in place and tightening the mounting bolt. 800x600 |
Done for the driver side. 800x600 |
Done for the passenger side. 800x600 |
Fit in the rims and tighten the lug nuts nicely. 800x600 |
